Thursday through Sunday Only: Free environmentally friendly balloon rides at Orange County Great Park. Every weekend of the year you can elevate up to 500 feet in the air and catch a unique view of the OC. The Balloon rides are all ages and can accommodate up to 30 people per ride, it’s also handicap accessible.
The Orange County Great Park was formerly a military base. The Great Park Balloon is the parks first major attraction, as the park is still under construction. The balloon is one of the largest in the world of its kind. It is the largest in the United States (non-polluting)! The balloon rides are first come, first serve. Registration is required 15 minutes before flights and night flight registration begins at 6PM. You will be required to sign a waiver prior to all flights.
The balloon pictured above is from the “Balloon Boy” Hoax and is not the actual ride. Sorry, for those who wanted to actually ride that crazy thing. Below is the picture of the Balloon ride in Orange County.

What if it pops?
it wont.
What if I pop it?
It’s not gonna pop! I am sure the thing has to be tested, approved and meet FAA standards.
what if I pop-lock while on it?
Hi everyone : ) just hooked up with LAfreebees and love it!!! Ok now, i want to take a large group to the ballon ride but can’t get directed to their website. can anyone give me directions there? I am coming from fire ravaged sylmar, ca. thanks so much
do you know the address?
There is no physical address to The great orange park, but here is a link to the directions. You can’t miss it, it is the big orange balloon.

how long is each ride?
The Great Ballon Park is located in Irvine CA, off the 5 Fwy and Sand Canyon at the former El Toro Marine Base.
I am perplexed, who gives a Free Balloon ride a thumbs down?
Wow!! This sounds like so much fun..It’s my 3yr. anniversary on the 24th and it sounds so romantic…I am afraid of heights though…Gotta confront my fears…I’n gonna try to make it..New experience..
has anyone gone?????
I went yesterday and it was super fun. It is a very strange feeling. The ride lasted about 10 to 15 minutes. Be sure to get there well before 2:00 and also call the hot-line on the website before you go. With the slightest bit of wind the balloon is grounded without notice.
their website says: “Do Not Use GPS Systems or Online Maps: Be advised that there is currently no physical address to the Orange County Great Park; and due to ongoing construction and development in and around the area, roads and traffic conditions are always changing. Please do not rely on directions other than those provided on this site.”
