It’s open house at the Port of Long Beach. Have you ever wondered how your keyboard got to California? Learn about logistics in the funnest way possible, by experiencing a day filled with interactive exhibits and displays at the Green Port Fest this Saturday.
Here’s a list of activities (Note: Some rides require tickets which are FREE; can be obtained at the festival entrance or ticket kiosks):
-Union Pacific’s rail simulator for a virtual train ride you won’t forget
-Mobile Department Operations Center showcases Port incident and emergency response tactics
-Green Port environmental projects display area to see the variety of wildlife that lives in our harbor
-Check out giant “top picks,” “yard hostlers” and other heavy equipment that move cargo
-See demonstrations of remote-control submersibles in action!
-Children can visit the bounce house, slide, an arts and crafts activity center
-Children can visit the Aquarium of the Pacific’s touch tank
-Live music by Blue Steel
-Port Bike Tours depart from the Green Port Fest Bike Valet at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
-45-minute boat tours. Boats depart every 15 minutes
-Climb aboard a double-decker Metrolink train to see one of our cargo terminals in action
