Free Ice Skating

By David Ball

The Orange County Great park not only gives you FREE balloon rides but from January 30th to February 28th 2010 you can ice skate at no charge. You don’t have to bring your wallet to this rink because skating, rentals and helmets are free. The Orange County Great park enriches Southern California with free events all year. From the balloon rides to concerts, ice skating, nature and they’re still building more. It was the former El Toro Marine Base. The killing machines have gone and now it’s just a peaceful and enjoyable park for the entire community.

This is a great idea! Just one caveat. Parking used to be free but the last time I went to the Great Park they charged $8 per car so confirm this before you go.

There WILL be a parking fee on Jan 30. See the response from the Great Park below:

Thank you for your e-mail. At the Great Park, we only charge for parking during special events. This is because when we expect large amounts of cars during one event, we hire a parking company to make sure everything goes smoothly for our guests. If you check our web site, events that have a parking fee will have the fee stated on the event page. For example, we will have a parking fee for our January 30 Snow Day event, but not for normal park hours or for the Great Skate. Let me know if you have any other questions.
