Free West Coast Rockabilly Showdown

The West Coast Rockabilly Showdown pits unsigned rockabilly bands in a competition held during five Saturdays at the Orange County Market Place, the weekend swap meet at the O. C. Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa. Three bands perform each Showdown date: May 1, 8, 15 and 29 with the finals on June 5. Performances start at noon. Bands are competing for $2500 in cash awards and the winner will open for Rockabilly Pioneer James Inteveld on Sunday, June 20 at noon. Intveld performs from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission to all Showdown events is FREE with a canned food donation to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Regular price is $2. Children 12 and under are always free.

The Showdown is part of the Spring/Summer Concert Series which also includes:

Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers on May 2,
Journey Tribute Band Don’t Stop Believin on May 16
Los Fabulocos with Kid Ramo on May 30
Hollywood U2 on June 6
Woodstock Tribute Weekend on Saturday
July 10 with Summer of Love and Woodstock Mud on Sunday, July 11

All concerts are at noon and 2 p.m. and also free with canned food donation. Admission includes the swap meet.

    This Event is a Fraud!!! I have gone Twice unbiased to see the outcome of the event, Both This past week and the Week before, there has not been any location to “vote” and the Bands that “win” aren’t even the most popular of the 3 that performed. The bands that get the Biggest crowds and response don’t Even Win?!?! It’s Sad to See such deceit and disappointment within this type of event.
